AI storyboards
A board exists to settle an argument before anyone spends money. Generating one takes minutes and costs less than the coffee for the meeting.
What a board costs
| Eight-frame board, fast modelFlux 2 Dev · 8 × 1 cr | 8 |
| Three hero frames re-run premiumSeedream 5 Pro · 3 × 20 cr | 60 |
| One animated key shotSeedance 2 Fast · 1 × 60 cr | 60 |
Credit costs are live from the catalogue; the cash figure is Starter-plan pricing.
Storyboards are the highest-leverage thing generative models do, because nobody needs the frames to be final. They need them to be clear, consistent and quick enough that changing the plan is cheap.
Eight frames on a 1-credit model is eight credits. At that price a board stops being a deliverable you argue about and becomes a way of thinking out loud.
The workflow
How it actually runs.
Each step links to the part of the studio that does it.
Break the script into shots
One line per frame: subject, action, camera. The board recipe takes it from there.
Storyboard recipeRender the board cheaply
Eight frames on a fast model, so a rewrite costs nothing to re-board.
AI image generatorUpgrade the frames that sell it
Re-run the two or three frames the client will actually look at on a flagship model.
AI image generatorAnimate the key shot
A five-second moving version of one frame answers questions a static board cannot.

Where this goes wrong.
- Keep one subject and one action per frame. Boards fail when a frame tries to show two beats.
- Continuity across frames comes from the set, not from the prompts — re-board the whole sequence rather than patching one frame.
- A board is not a pre-vis. Do not promise a client the film will match it shot for shot.
- Text on signs and screens inside board frames will be wrong. Annotate instead.
FAQ
What people ask.
Yes. Break the script into one line per shot — subject, action, camera — and the storyboard recipe renders the frames as a matched set on one model, so the board reads as one sequence. Eight frames on a fast model costs eight credits, which means re-boarding after a rewrite is free in every sense that matters.
An eight-frame board on a 1-credit model is 8 credits, about two cents at Starter pricing. Upgrading three hero frames to a premium model and animating one shot takes the whole package to roughly 128 credits — still under 40 cents.
Any frame can be pushed into an image-to-video model, which is the cheapest useful pre-vis there is: a five-second moving version of the key shot for 60 credits. It answers pacing and camera questions that a static board leaves open.
Generated as a set on one model, yes — that is the point of running it as a recipe rather than eight prompts. If you need a recurring character across the board, build the character first and reference that frame.
